Apparently all this music I've been listening to is called Reggaeton. I've heard it described as salsa mixed with hip hop. I know that description sounds horrific, but it's pretty catchy and i'm hooked.
Sure, I can't understand a word of it, and I turn it down whenever I drive by a group of Mexicans (a la Micheal Bolton from Office Space), but, the beats they use are so different from the usual rock/pop/heavy metal/alternative bands I've listened to all my life. It's a refreshing change.
But.... maybe it all sounds so good because I'm drunk. :D
